Cello Beginnings 1 for Kids Ages 4-7

This class will give your child the opportunity to become inspired and motivated in a group class using teaching methods inspired by both traditional pedagogy and the Suzuki philosophy. Students will begin by learning all of the basic fundamentals of how to hold the cello and bow in a positive and fun environment. Simple songs are used each class to teach musicality and further development of playing skills. The class also puts an emphasis on rhythmic and ear training using fun and challenging games. Each week your child will listen to music by different composers and will also learn about how music can be used to tell a story. Parents play a very important role in the development of their cellists and are required to attend and participate in class. Parents are also expected to be their child’s “practice partner” during daily practice sessions outside of class. After completion of this course your child will be ready to transition to private cello lessons.

IMPORTANT: A parent is required to attend and participate in the class with their child, and to practice daily with them at home.Students are required to rent/purchase their own child-size cello, plus bring a cello chair and “cello floor” for the first class  – See the Academy’s cello rental guidelines!
