Piano Beginnings 1 For Ages 6-9

Piano Beginnings 1 Class for Kids Ages 6-9

This class is an excellent introduction to the piano and basic musical concepts. Students will become familiar with the keyboard through games and exercises in class, along with some written theory practice for home. They will learn a variety of songs that will be practiced each week in class. Through singing and playing, students will be able to learn music at a comfortable pace. The teacher will do individual assessment for each student throughout the course of the class. At the conclusion of the classes, a small informal recital will be performed for parents and friends.

In this Level 1 beginner class, students will learn the musical alphabet at the keyboard in a limited hand position. As students learn the keys they will also begin reading music on the staff right away. Simple rhythms and melodies are practiced in shorter pieces. By the end of the class students will be comfortable reading music and playing their pieces for others. (Class size: 8 max – one student per piano)  Classes take place at Potomac Arts Academy in the Piano Lab.
