Traditional Photography Summer Studio

Experience the magic of creating photographs and seeing them develop before your eyes! Participants will get hands-on experience in a traditional darkroom, learn how to make cyanotypes in the sun, take portraits in a professional lighting studio, and even make their own camera from an oatmeal canister! Digital photography elements will also be introduced. Family and friends will be invited to a student showcase on the final day. No camera or previous experience is required.

Stephanie Booth is a working artist in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. She attended Mary Washington College and graduated, with honors, in 2004 with a BA in Studio Art and Art History. She received her MFA in Art and Visual Technology from George Mason University. Stephanie’s interdisciplinary art integrates photography, video, and fiber art techniques. Stephanie has exhibited her work nationally and internationally in galleries in New York, Chicago, Washington D.C., Toronto, and China. Spinster was published in the Washington Post as part of the Real Art D.C. contest. Stephanie Booth was an art educator in Fairfax County Public Schools for six years and more recently has taught photography at Northern Virginia Community College, George Mason University, and the College of Southern Maryland.
