Voice Class for Teens 13-18
Come join this exciting voice training class for teen singers, actors and dancers. The class is designed to teach teenage students of all ability levels the techniques for using their voices for maximum performance and efficiency. We welcome students who have never sung before along with more experienced singers/ performers. The class is taught in a group format, and singers will continue to build their musical abilities through exposure to vocal music from the genres of classical, musical theatre, and pop. Students will discover the keys to healthy vocal technique, develop an understanding of a wide variety of vocal music, and learn to develop their acting abilities within a song and act with both their body and voice. In addition to being a great environment for beginners, this class is also recommended for students who are already taking private voice lessons and need an opportunity to develop additional experience in preparation for auditions and performances. A final class performance will feature the singers’ work and highlight classical, popular, and musical theatre genres.
The class will be taught by veteran Voice Teaching Artist James Myers. Mr. Myers has taught at the Potomac Arts Academy for over 5 years and has been a professional voice teacher and musical theatre repertoire coach for over 10 years in the Washington D.C. metro area. He is also an active singer, actor and music director for music and theatre productions in the area.
