Instructor - Violin
Elizabeth Leung is in her third year as Orchestra Director at Cooper Middle School and as Assistant Orchestra Director at Langley High School, located in McLean, Virginia. In addition to teaching at public schools, she is a String Coach for Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras in Montgomery County and was a teacher at Vienna Summer Strings. As a teacher and string coach, she is very familiar with the rigorous standards that are held for students in performing ensembles of all levels. She is committed to teaching private lessons to students of all ages and abilities ranging from beginner to intermediate violin.
As a performer, Elizabeth is an alumnus of the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestras and the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras. Elizabeth was a member of the MCYO Quartet, who performed together for six years. Her quartet represented her school and youth orchestra eventually having the opportunity to play at the White House Christmas Open House. This past summer, she played in the pit orchestra at the Theatre Lab in DC for their performances of Carousel.
Elizabeth holds her Bachelors in Music Education from Indiana University, where she studied with Brenda Brenner. While at IU, she taught at the Fairview Elementary String Project, an initiative for a low-income community to learn string instruments. She also had the opportunity to teach helper lessons to students in the Indiana University String Academy. She is planning to pursue her Master of Music in violin performance and pedagogy.
