Violinists Claire Allen and Matt Richardson Present Fundraising Concert

Join Violin Teaching Artists Claire Allen and Matt Richardson for an evening of music celebrating the violin on Friday, April 1, 2022 at 8:00pm – livestreamed on our YouTube channel!

Featuring works by Bologne, Clarke, O’Connor, Shostakovich, and Sarasate, this concert will highlight the versatility and virtuosity of the violin. This concert is being presented as a fundraiser for two summer programs directed by Ms. Allen and Mr. Richardson, Violin Bootcamp and Violin Academy. Donations received during this event will go directly to support student scholarships for these programs. The recommended donation is $10 per audience member viewing, but any amount will be gratefully received.

Donations can be made online to the Mason Community Arts Academy Excellence Fund from March 21-April 2 and your donation will be designated for these summer violin programs.

Creative Collection A Look Inside: A Composer’s Process

Premiere: Thursday, April 29  |  7:00 p.m.  |  Virtual

Join composer, Kitty Fields, discusses her compositional process and her work, “Air for Solo Flute Unaccompanied,” written for and performed by a flutist, Samantha Clarke. The flutist and composer will discuss aspects of the work, the thought process Kitty Fields went through when writing it, and suggestions/recommendations for the performer. After the discussion/interview, Samantha Clarke will share a performance of the work on flute.

POSTPONED: String Concert-Sunday, March 22, 2020

Due to current conditions as a result of COVID-19, and in the best interest of everyone’s health based on CDC and George Mason University guidelines, this concert has been postponed.

Academy string faculty and students are presenting a special string concert celebrating our string department and including works by Bacewicz, Beethoven, Schubert, and the Mendelssohn Octet. The concert will feature selected violin, viola, and cello students and faculty members, including Claire Allen, Rachel Holloway, Youbin Jun, Andrew Juola, Hyunji Lee, Patrick LeStrange, Caitlin Renner, and Zachary Whitaker. Students in the Violin Adventures Classes, Violin Choir, and Patriot Violins will also perform selected ensemble works. Come and enjoy these performances!

George Mason University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts invites the Academy family to Off the Wall, a family-friendly design, media, and fine arts festival featuring creative cuisine and local brewery and distillery tastings!

Every Spring George Mason University opens its Art and Design Building to alumni, parents, prospective students, and the public for a hands-on showcase of the visual arts at Mason. Tour 15 open studios and hands-on exhibits with student and faculty artists, enjoy the music, plus create your own works of art—it’s a great party!
