Creative Writing for Stage & Screen

For writers at any level, this is an in-depth look at the fundamentals of writing: dramatic structure, character development, and engaging dialogue.  Students will develop their own scripts through a variety of writing exercises and workshops, culminating into a sharing of work at the final class meeting. Perfect for those who have always been interested in writing and/or those who would like more opportunities for developing their work and would like to exercise their creative muscles.

Zachary holds a BA in Theater from George Mason University with concentrations in performance, playwriting, and dramaturgy. He has been a teaching artist with AFYP since Fall 2013. He is a resident actor with the company, currently appearing in AFYP’s touring shows A Penny Saved and The Adventures of Polly Pedestrian, and is the Logistics Coordinator for summer camp and showcase programs. While at Mason Zach’s work as an actor, playwright, and dramaturg was seen twelve productions with the Mason Players; some favorite credits include Tom in An Experiment with an Air Pump, the Aristocrat in The Blue Room, and dramaturg for Dido, Queen of Carthage.

Andrew Reid graduated from George Mason University School of Theater with a BA in Playwriting and Dramaturgy. Currently residing in Fairfax, Virginia, his plays have had staged readings with various theaters in the area such as The HUB, NextStop and The Kennedy Center. Most recently his play, Saudade, had production with the 2016 D.C. Capital Fringe Festival. Aside from theater, Andrew has assisted with production on several films produced by Hand Me Down Films; The Forest of LightUnbelievably Fearson and The Pig. Andrew works currently as a teaching artist with Acting for Young People.
