PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Change the way you think about teaching music forever! Participate in engaging training sessions in Musicianship, Pedagogy, Kodály Materials, and choral Music-Making. We will be offering all 3 levels for Kodály Certificate awards PLUS exciting Kodály Supplemental courses. We are very proud to be an officially OAKE-endorsed program.

What is Kodály?
The great Hungarian composer Zoltan Kodály believed that singing is the primary musical response of children. Beginning with folk songs, children are introduced to the world of art music, from which they develop skills insight singing and analysis to sustainthem throughout a lifetime of music appreciation and music making. The study of the Kodály method explores this unique approach to teaching music to children through song and movement.
2012 Program Highlights:
- All 3 Certification Level courses in Kodály, endorsed by the Organization of American Kodály Educators (OAKE)
- Expert Mason Kodály faculty, supported by the George Mason University School of Music
- An oustanding selection of Kodály (and Orff Schulwerk) supplemental courses designed to enrich and extend the experiences, skills and knowledge gained during Certification
- Flexible participation options, including "for credit" and "noncredit" registration
- Hands-on application of techniques and skills learned through mock class role play
What you will gain from this program:
- Official Certificate award in Kodály upon completion of Level III (one level per summer)
- A vast amount of hands-on practice in Kodály methods in both individual and lively group settings
- Extensive resources and tools to support your utilization of the Kodály approach in your classroom
