Music Composition Workshop
July 9 - July 13, 2012 (half day)


PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Have you wondered about the creative process of writing music? Or, do you have a beginning knowledge but are looking to expand your knowledge and abilities? Composition techniques are not learned from a textbook, but are skills we learn through the compositional process. Work with outstanding GMU School of Music composition instructors to explore your full composing potential!
PROGRAM HOURS: M-F 1PM to 4PM

- $190 + $10 book fee

What you need to know to take this class: basic understanding of treble and bass clef, experience playing an instrument, basic understanding of music theory (scales, key signatures, time signatures)

• Discussion and application of classical composition styles
• Exploration of modern music styles and advances in music technology
• Experimentation with improvisation analysis and techniques
• Exposure to traditional methods and modern tools for composers
• Expert Composition faculty from GMU's School of Music
