Interested in being a part of an exciting new chamber music and/or other vibrant music ensemble? The Potomac Arts Academy in Fairfax, VA offers the perfect blend of university-quality instruction and a friendly environment with other community members.

Semester: SPRING 2015 (January/February thru May/June)

Chamber MusicCHAMBER MUSIC ENSEMBLES Ages: All Ages
CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR STRINGS AND PIANO.
Potomac Arts Academy is excited to offer Chamber Music Ensembles (trios and quartets) - open to Potomac students AND outside students! Highlights of performing in a chamber music group include:
• Weekly chamber ensemble rehearsals/coachings with Potomac Faculty
• Two performances on the GMU campus
• Learn amazing chamber repertoire and forge unforgettable friendships
• Enhance intonation, rhythm, and expressive skills through close work with peers
Rehearsals will be held on either Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays (depending on ensemble placement) from 7:00-8:00pm. For the best chance of optimal ensemble placement, it is recommended to have all three times available at the start of the year. Rehearsals will begin the week of September 15th, and run through the weekend of May 9th-10th with a break for most of the month of January.
We are looking for Intermediate (approximately Suzuki Bk. 3+) to Advanced students of all ages, however we do request a recommendation from a private or public school teacher for students younger than 10 years old.

The ensemble will prepare a varied concert program of concert percussion repertoire. Students will improve their skills and rehearsal habits, and increase their awareness of and appreciation for percussion ensemble literature. In addition, students may be introduced to percussion instruments that are not typically used in a band program. Students should demonstrate an intermediate knowledge of concert percussion, including snare, mallet percussion and timpani. A letter of recommendation from the student's band director or private instructor is required to be handed in on the first day.
