Encore Choir For Senior Adults

EncoreThe Potomac Arts Academy and Encore Creativity for Older Adults team up to bring quality and highly enjoyable choral instruction and performance opportunity to adults 55 and older.

The Potomac Academy of George Mason University Encore Chorale now comprises over 45 excellent singers who meet to rehearse weekly the Woodlands Retirement Community in Fairfax. The Chorale will be performing a holiday concert at The Woodlands in December, as well as joining with the other Baltimore/Washington area Chorales at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage on December 23rd at 6:00pm.Under the leadership of Jeanne Kelly, this energetic ensemble provides wonderful musical experiences and great social interaction. Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Woodlands Retirement Community in Fairfax.

Jeane Kelly, Encore Founder and Executive Director
Currently, Ms. Kelly is the founder and executive director of the nonprofit organization, Encore Creativity for Older Adults, which is dedicated to providing an excellent, accessible, and sustainable artistic environment for older adults over 55 years of age, either beginning, intermediate or advanced levels, who seek arts education and performance opportunities under a professional artist. Encore Chorales are now located at Langston- Brown Senior Center in Arlington, VA., Goodwin House Alexandria, Goodwin House Baileys Crossroads, Myerberg Senior Center in Baltimore, Smithsonian Institution in D.C. and the Workhouse Center for the Arts in Lorton, VA and Potomac Arts Academy at George Mason University. Dance programs for older adults were introduced fall 2008 at Arlington Center for Dance and Workhouse Center for Arts in Lorton. Encore also offers Encore Chorale “Sleep Away” Camps at St. Mary’s College of Maryland and the famed Chautauqua Institution in New York. Potomac and Encore have been happily partnering for over 2 years.
